The Directorate for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety will hold a consultation meeting on 21 May in Halden in connection with NND's concession application to own and operate nuclear plants. Background:
An important step in the work to decommission the Norwegian nuclear facilities is to transfer relevant facilities with the associated necessary personnel and responsibilities from IFE to NND. A prerequisite for such transfer is that NND be granted a concession under the Atomic Energy Act.
NND has submitted the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Directorate (DSA) application for a concession to own and operate the Department of Energy Engineering's (IFE) nuclear facility in Halden.
The concession application from NND contains a main body (application letter) and a series of attachments (delivery packages) that are organized into management processes, core processes and support processes.
The delivery packages describe the nuclear facility, NND's organization, management system, preparedness and safety work.
Parts of the application documents are subject to confidentiality, cf. section 53 of the Nuclear Energy Act, and parts of the application documents are further classified as safety, cf. Sections 5-3 and 5-4 of the Security Act.
The DSA has published the parts of the application documents that can be made public and which are most relevant for stakeholders to read in connection with the consultation.
